Hello, hello,
This past Monday we had our first Movies in the Lawn. Betsy did a great job setting it up. We had about 20 people there. The next one is Monday, July 1. Remember the Movies in the Lawn is meant for community building and outreach. So feel free to invite family and friends, even non-Catholic friends.
Again, the youth had a great time at Catholic Heart Work Camp. They learned the value hard work and of resting well. However, the greatest gift was to see the youth adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament during our evening of Eucharistic Adoration.
We still have a lot of great things going on besides Movies in the Lawn and Catholic Heart Work Camp. July 12-14 we have Steubenville Rochester. Then July 14-19 we have Totus Tuus here. It will be a week of learning about our faith, about the Rosary, getting to go to Mass, and having a fun time. Totus Tuus is for all grade levels. Then July 29-August 1, our junior high kids will be at Camp Summit in Lanesboro. Please pray that all of these events help our youth realize how much Jesus loves them and how much they need Him in their lives.
This weekend is Corpus Christi weekend. Corpus Christi is Latin for Body of Christ. This weekend we celebrate that Jesus did not leave us orphaned when He ascended to God the Father after His resurrection. Yes, He sent us the Holy Spirit, but He also left us the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Yes, it would have been awesome to be alive to see and hear Jesus when was on earth in bodily form. But in some ways, we have it even better than the disciples did 2000 years ago. We don’t get to hear or see Him in bodily form, but even more intimately, we receive Him into our own bodies when we receive the Eucharist. This is how much Jesus loves us and wants to be close to us. He allows us to receive His body in a non-bloody way. The Eucharist is the closest we can physically get to Jesus on this side of Heaven. Thus, even though we receive the Eucharist every weekend, we must not let this make receiving the Eucharist ordinary. I pray this solemnity allows us to fall in love with Jesus in the Eucharist even more.
Peace of Christ,
Father Vogel
